Intera's Mission
And Vision

Mission

Intera Oncology is dedicated to substantially improving the survival of colorectal cancer and cholangiocarcinoma patients by ensuring the availability and access to life saving hepatic artery infusion (HAI) therapy.

Background

We are a Boston-based medical device company whose mission is personal. Many of our closest friends and family members have been diagnosed with colon cancer or intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and have directly benefited from Hepatic Artery Infusion.

In early 2018, our founder, Jonathan Reis M.D., was approached by a close friend recently diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer to help him determine the best treatment to allow him to continue with his productive and fulfilling life, extend life expectancy, and maximize his chances of survival.   Dr. Reis investigated the standard of care as well as treatment options in development and found HAI to be the most compelling approach for the treatment of stage 4 colon cancer with primary liver involvement. Dr Reis supported his friend through the initial evaluation, pump implant surgery and on-going treatments. Separately, the father of Intera’s co-founder, David Dove M.D., had benefited from HAI therapy as well.
When Jonathan and David learned that the only FDA approved pump for HAI treatment was being discontinued they sprang into action forming Intera Oncology in order to make sure that as many patients as possible with stage IV colon cancer and cholangiocarcinoma have access to  the HAI  life-saving therapy.

Along the way, the Intera team has connected with many cancer patient survivors, family, and caregivers who credit HAI therapy with their treatment success. Some of these survivors have become a part of the Intera team as board members, investors, and advisors.
